Facilitation
Working groups, board retreats, conferences and so on all benefit from the skills and organization of a professional facilitator with experience designing and leading group process. A facilitator can support a group over a long term, from formation to action, or step in to help a single event run smoothly. During tension or conflict, a facilitator can lead dialogue and resolution processes to restore working relationships. We also offer two-party mediation services to help resolve disputes.
The presence of a third party facilitator from outside your group helps neutralize power dynamics, manage internal conflict, and disrupt habitual patterns. Whether your group is making a high stakes decision or simply wanting to interact with one another in new ways, a facilitator will help you reach positive outcomes.
Conflict Systems Design
All groups have systems for addressing conflict, whether those systems are spoken or unspoken, intentionally designed or randomly accumulated. The systems may function well for some people and poorly for others. If you find yourself out of your depth when conflict arises in your workplace, or unsatisfied with the outcomes of existing conflict resolution processes, it may be that your structures are not sufficient for your current challenges.
As design consultants, we will work with you to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of your current systems, and the needs of your group or organization. Then we will design or redesign a system that meets the needs of your group, with an emphasis on alternative dispute resolution methods like mediation and restorative justice.
